Our individual perceptions as well as the collective societal-perceptions are rarely in synch to enable us to love another or to serve one another as we are challenged to do. Over the centuries the humanity and the humanities have struggled to cope with this challenge. While this challenge might seem unsurmountable, it need not remain so for ever. Just as our visual acuity is improvable with the help of the prescription lenses; humanities can achieve singularity with the help of the modern computational tools and systems to enable us to not only understand our individual values but also our collective self worth and purposes so that we may never feel challenged or remain unequal to the existential causes.

From the biblical times to the present, we have been taught to separate ourselves from the world with the belief that the separation is an intellectual exercise devoid of connections to any and all. In fact, intelligence as well as all the other attributes exist in an unseparatable continuum of time, space, perceptions and co-ordination thus making it necessary to deal with all of them concurrently. Not unlike the prescription lenses, computational methodologies, tools and techniques are the only things needed for an individual as well as the societies to cope with the existential challenges of all kinds. The traditional recommendations of breaking larger problems into smaller and smaller components to help cope with are not adequate to meet all of the challenges of perceptions and communications which require simultaneous views of concurrency in multiple dimensions of enormous complexities. Could humanity simplify these computational systems to the level of the prescription lenses for all to avail of? What resources do we not have to devote and achieve this capability?

Yes computational models can be created to the accuracy of our ability to code for measurement of all desired variables. That is the challenge I see with AI systems increasing able to account for variables we failed to consider.

We have the resources. They should be applied but with much care,& consideration in regards to AI and eventual self awareness. The rate of technological advancement now surpasses the rate of our enlightenment. Mankind is akin to a teenager failing to consider the long term negative implications of his actions over near term rewards. Yes we are capable of great things if not greatness but on the micro level we lack the humility to account for our fallibility. A concerning situation as few make decisions affecting the many.

History has shown Captain Ahab to be at the helm for too many decisions affecting the whole. Is there a default in the human psyche to always consider the way things are today is how they will be tomorrow? History proves otherwise. Black swans events of global proportions attributal to man increasingly occur with their possible implications growing exponentially with technological advancement. Until mankind becomes in-tune with our collective conscious as a whole we need to walk gently into that dark night

David Knight: You are quite correct to advocate " walk gently in to that dark night" Perhaps, humankind will be attuned to that collective consciousness through engaging in acts such as these: Just as flying was thought of as an impossible dream till just a century ago, but might be in everyone's reach now, due to the computational and coordination achievements of this century; it is not unthinkable to use those very same approaches to fly-through our existential cornucopia without having to ruffle the feathers of anyone else. I am quite certain the humanities are very close to achieving this singularity as well as parity with all other sciences.
